just playing around with a color comp- I had to get this outta the way. I'm starting to like the way it's coming out. What I don't like is the tail- so I'm going to change that and start adding some details.
just sorting things out- this bird like creature started off as a statue but ended up looking to organic, so I just put a rider on it.

Something old and something new...
The idea was to create new images everyday and turn them in by 10am deadline. But since I have some pretty important stuff to do tomorrow I will post tonight.
I had this head roaming around in my brain and I thought it would be cool if I included it in the conceptuals. I wanted to do something very Aztec Indian looking so I exaggerated the nose and ears, I laughed when I first sketched it so I continued to render it out.

This is a really simplified bruiser, I tried to stay away from the muscles and didnt want to get too caught up in the details. I have been jonesin' on drawing some weapons so I wanted to draw the macuahuitl which is main weapon in the Aztec arsonal.

I am not a fan of drawing backgrounds, but I really want to get good at them. This is my attempt at an Aztec temple with the jungle landscape. The idea was that I wanted to create a pov of someone pushing the bushes aside and seeing this great temple...but I got lazy and didnt want to draw the plant life around the edges. oh well.

I said I was gonna come back and fill in the intial sketch that I had posted earlier. So here it is my scanner for some reason is actin really weird so the effect of this drawing is no something I was happy with...maybe its the red tattoos? Dont know, either way the idea was good but I dont think I succeeded. I really like the action pose of him walking, should have done plants instead of huts.

So thats that...Im off to rest my hand and watch the boobtube for a while.

Aztec concepts

So the first image is just a quick pencil sketch of an aztec warrior, I need to put in all the accesories and whatnot. I dont know where I was going as far as the design was concerned; still need to flush him out later.
The second image is a really cartoony character, I had the most fun doing this one. I have a thing for characters with costumes on so I thought this would be perfect for a jaguar warrior creeping through the bushes. I wanted to keep him real simple so that I can color him later.
Third is the really buff crazy warrior, this is the modern day wrestlers inspiration. I made him with a fully feathered mask and some huge muscles. I didnt have the time to figure out what kind of weapon i wanted to give him. I think it looks cool.
I am going to finish up the first character and see what I come up with. PEACE!
The begining
I spent time thinking of what my idea would be like to be in this Aztecish (is that a word) type world. This is what I came up with so far:
They like nature, especially water (for this project, I’m gonna have them in an isle like Tenochititlan; most of their buildings and statues are made of different types of stones; they try to use intimidation on visitors (the reason for huge buildings and statues); they believe in supernatural and sorcery; they have advanced technology.
For the Spain dudes:
they are brutal; they use steel and wood for materials; they use steam engines and gun powdered weapons; they are well trained in fighting as a unit.
I'm starting to work on the environments and how the world is gonna look. For now I have no idea why I had this hard on for this bridge, but the first pic has a serpent statue that goes in and out of the bridge. I saw a cool two dimensional symbol that I used as inspiration for this design.
The second pic I was just trying to get a feel for the bridge that connects two pyramids together. As a few ideas, I have one with the bridge that has statues down both sides of the walk way- nothing special. The other has a water stream that goes down the middle of the bridge with a water fall to end it- or maybe I could incorporate both elements?
The third pic I started messing with the pyramid shapes cause I don't want to do just a regular 'ol pyramid. oh and then some random dude- I just wanted to draw a jaguar.
For now I'm still gonna flesh out the environments and different elements.
